Sneaky little kid

Mason: (comes into my room from his room, where he should be sleeping) Mommy, can I sleep in your room? I'll be good like I was last night.

Me: No, I want you to sleep in your own bed.

Mason: Please? I promise I'll be good.

Me: I thought you were going to start sleeping in your own bed? You aren't getting a Batman room unless you sleep in your own bed every night.

Mason: I said I will sleep in my room after Baby Addison comes.

Now what am I supposed to say to that? He is such a good kid. I love that he constantly is getting ready for Addison to come home. I guess I'll be sharing my bed again tonight. Sigh.

A conversation with Mason

This morning I told Mason he needed to get dressed before he could watch tv, so off to his room he went. I went in to check on him as he stood in front of his closet trying to figure out what to wear. I pulled a shirt out and said ...

Me: Here, how about this shirt.
Mason: No Mommy, I want to look cool!
Me: Dude, this shirt is cool.
Mason: No it isn't Mommy, it has flowers on it.
Me: They aren't flowers, it is a bandana print.
Mason: No, I want to look cool.

I digress. The kid is worse than a girl when it comes to clothes. So then we move on to a green Gap polo that has the number four on it ...

Me: Okay then, wear this shirt ... look, it has the number four on it. {In our house, the number four signifies Brett Favre.}
Mason: No, that was the Packers. {Inferring that Favre no longer plays for the Packers.}
Me: But dude, he is still number four with the Jets.
Mason: No Mommy!

So then Kyle intervenes and takes Mason to show him that his green Gap polo with the number four on it matches Kyle's green Jets Favre jersey with the number four on it. Mason still didn't budge. Sigh. The yellow shirt it is.

Conversation with Mason

{Preamble: Mason and I are laying in my bed while I am on my laptop and he is supposed to be going to sleep. He hands me the remote and wants me to turn the TV on for a few minutes. I tell him no and he starts acting up by thrashing around the bed like a wild monkey ...}

Me: If you are going to throw a fit, then you are going to your room.
Mason: {Stops thrashing around, looks at me and innocently says ...} What is throwing a fit?

Apparently we have never used that term, because he had no clue what I was talking about. I explained it to him in terms he definitely knows {i.e. whining, being naughty, etc}. He cracks me up!

A Mason Conversation

Preamble: We went to the fair last night with Kyle's sister {Shay} and others. We saw the motorcross while we were there and yes, Shay had gotten her hair cut. It is now about 12 hours later and Mason says to me ...

Mason: Mommy.
Me: Yes, baby?
Mason: When we were at the motorcycles, Auntie Shay looked different, didn't she?
Me: Yeah, she got her hair cut.
Mason: Yeah, she looks like you.
Me: She does?
Mason: Yeah, she weared her hair down like you.

Brother teaches sister

I just opened a can of those Gerber Graduates raviolis for Payton. Of course she wants nothing to do with them, but Mason does. Mason goes and sits next to Payton at the table with his own fork and ...

Mason: Babes, watch how bruder (aka: brother) does it. (Eats ravioli)
Payton: No, noooo.
Mason: Babes, eat it like this. (Stabs ravioli)
Payton: No, noooo. (Holds fork up by Mason's face)
Mason: No babes, we aren't playing swords.
Payton: Noooo.
Mason: Babes, watch how bruder does it. (Eats ravioli)

Apparently Mason wants to move

Me: Mason, do you want to help me clean out the garage?

Mason: Why?

Me: We are going to have a garage sale in a few weeks.

Mason: Well, are we moving?

Me: No, we are just going to have a garage sale. Why, do you want to move?

Mason: Yeah.

Me: Well don't you like our house?

Mason: No, I just want to move.

Only my son ...

Mason has had a thing for sleeping with us lately. Tonight he and I crawled into bed and he felt something under the covers. He pulls out a small little hard thing {it felt like a tiny pebble} and said ...

Mason: What is this?

Me: I don't know, let me see.

Mason: Well, maybe it's an old booger.

That's fabulous! Apparently he remembers leaving boogers in my bed? GROSS!

Conversation with Mason

This morning, the kids had gone upstairs, so I went up to bring them back downstairs. They each had a stuffed animal in their arms, their "babies" as Mason informed me. The conversation then went something like this:

Mason: And Mommy, you are having a baby too (as he pats my stomach).
Me: I am?!
Mason: Yeah, because I need another kid to play with.
Me: Oh, okay. Well do you want a baby or a little kid?
Mason: Um, I think a boy my size.
Me: Well, what about a girl Payton's size?
Mason: Okay.
Me: Maybe we can get a girl now and maybe a boy later?
Mason: Yeah, yeah.

Crack me up! And I swear if he pats my belly one more time to tell me I'm having a baby, I may have to get counseling!
