Gimme some chocolate milk, please!

When I was a little girl {and a big girl}, my most favorite drink other than Mt. Dew was {and is} chocolate milk. As in, I would have a huge glass of it everyday after school. My mom used to buy us Nestle Quik, but when we went to Grandma's house, we got Hershey's Syrup. I grew up associating Hershey's Syrup with Grandma's house ... crazy, but true.

I still do associate it with Grandma's house, actually.

And now that I have my own money, I buy Hershey's Syrup. I spoil myself like that. Ha!

Unfortunately ... or fortunately, I'm not sure which ... I've passed my love of chocolate milk on to my kids. They love it ... LOVE IT. All day long, they are asking for chocolate milk.

For a long time now, Payton has taken it upon herself to get the Hershey's Syrup from the fridge and bring it to us ... that is her way of telling us she wants some chocolate milk ... and she wants it RIGHT THEN. As of late, she also signs "milk please" ... how could we turn that down? For those of you not familiar with sign, she is signing "please" in this picture ... love her!

A Brag. Real Quick.

I admit that we have not signed with Payton as much as I would have liked over the past three years. We have signed a little bit, but not a lot. Since she started school this past September, I have noticed her finally picking up some of the sign that we have done here at home. I know they also sign with her a bit at school, but I'm not really sure how much or what signs.

A couple minutes ago, I asked Payton if she wanted some milk. I said to her, "Say Mama. Say ... Mama, milk please." Just then, she signed please. Holy smokes! We haven't really worked on that sign here at home, but clearly school is working on it. I'll add that one to our list!

Man I love that kid.

Signing ... finally!

We have struggled with signing with Payton. She has had pretty much zero interest, although I know she understands some of the signs that I sign to her (the basics). I have got her to sign a few times, but nothing that ever lasted or that she initiated. Today during speech therapy, a whole new Payton joined us. I was signing to her and her totally mimicked every sign I did!! Her therapist about fell on the floor because it was totally out of nowhere. Some of the signs she mimicked were more, eat, all done, night night, please, ball, bath, stars, milk ... I'm trying to think of what else. She knows eat, more, all done and night night without prompting. The fact that she says all done and ball makes her signing them useless, but I'm excited nonetheless. Now I need to find a sign language class!
